This might astonish you, but despite paying huge money for buying your dream car, you are not enjoying its full potentials as it should deliver. Well, this is mainly because the car manufacturers determine the parameters of different components installed in your car according to the driving conditions existing in different countries across the world. Being a car owner, you must be aware of the fact that sometimes the car manufacturers launch only single version of their newly introduced vehicle in one country and dual or multi versions of the same vehicle in another country. This is mainly because the country where an only a single version of the vehicle is launched facilitates the vehicle to deliver its expected performance.
But, surprisingly this is even not the actual performance that it can deliver. The performance that is delivered by the vehicle is determined by parameters determined in the software installed in the engine control unit of the vehicle. Interestingly, if an expert changes those parameters then the vehicle can be brought into its original position where it can deliver the performance, that has been hidden by the manufacturer. The process of editing those parameters is known as remapping.
You will agree that despite driving your car at the fastest speed or enjoying its economic performance in terms of its fuel efficiency, you had always expected to drive it at more higher speed or enjoy high fuel efficiency. Going through this requirement of the car owners nowadays trend of car remapping is gaining huge popularity among the car owners throughout the world.
How is remapping carried out? The process of remapping is although not new for the car owners and technicians. But, since the computer made its entrance in the car mechanism the process required the technicians to be computer savvy and more technical than mechanical. This is mainly because before 2000 the mechanism of the vehicles was maintained manually by the technicians. But with increasing use of computers and vast technical developments in methods of car manufacturing, use of software for determining the performance of the car was used by the manufacturers.
The software was installed in the engine control unit of the car, that is placed closed to the onboard diagnostic port. During remapping the mechanic either re-writes the program installed in the software or completely installs a new software to enhance the performance of the vehicle. The process of installing the new software is carried out through the laptop.
Now the question arises, that how much changes a car owner can expect after getting his car remapped? Well, an answer to this question is simple words is that it mainly depends upon the existing condition of your car’s engine. But, still, if your car is empowered with the turbocharged engine then you can expect encouraging results from remapping.
Benefits of car remapping: The benefits can be summarized as follows:
1. Enhanced fuel efficiency;
2. Improved power generation efficiency;
3. Increase in the resale value of the car;
4. Do not affect the warranty, until unless there is any sort of restrictions imposed by the government.
5. The existing software can be re-installed anytime without any complications.
In simple words, it can be said that if you are struggling with the performance of your car then remapping its engine control unit will help you in enjoying its improved performance.
